Jag Siege Morgan Ho Dog Rio
Cayucos 2002 - The 4 Aussies of the Apocalypse Invade Kathy Warren's Ranch!
How would she handle it - not one, not two, but FOUR of the Chaps X Catera kids at once?!? Only her sheer will and determination (and some long bamboo poles) kept the riot police from being called out those 5 days in June of 2002. Rio, Siege (the youngster from the second litter), Jag and Ho Dog all descended upon Kathy at once with several other Aussies and Ho Dog's girlfriend Abbey the Belgium Terv for five fun and work filled days on California's gorgeous Central Coast. Their goal - to try and teach the humans to work sheep (hopefully) without embarrassing the dog. While most of us weren't all that successful (and I do of course include myself in that count), there was an awesome amount of dog talent on hand to show the humans how it should be done. Kathy C. and Rio flew down to LA from Canada (Saskatoon), then in the dead of night after that loooooong flight drove down to Ramona (arriving at 2 am), to spend a day kinda recuperating then turn around and drive 9 hours up to Cayucos. Trish and the boys Jag and Siege practically live in Cayucos anyway, being up there working with Kathy as much as they can. And we were going back exactly 10 years from the first time Morgan and I went, in early 1992. Kind of a homecoming for the Queen. On the last day of camp, Morgan, who was cheerleading (or possibly criticizing their technique) for many of the dogs, was given a gift from Kathy - she got to do what she truly lives for, put up the sheep one more time. She joyfully roared out there like a 3 year old, whipped them sheep around into a tight bunch, and shoved them through the gate smartly. Of course, the sheep knew exactly where to go anyway, but hey, the Queen had her moment in the sun and enjoyed it! So enjoy the pictures as much as we enjoyed the making of them! I will warn you in advance that some of them are quite large and if you have a slow connection, might as well start an album and go see "Lord of the Rings" a time or two! I tried to make it better by putting only 6 pix per page instead of the usual 9 - 12.
